Kevin explains the electrical part in more detail: 2.03 kilowatt system, nine 200 watt photovoltaic panels, each panel has its own in-phase inverter, grid-tied, 8 kilowatt hours/day.

Laurie says solar really helps out the residents:
"...it's something that really helps them out financially."As you can see the apartments are Energy Star Certified for efficiency, quality, and comfort.
Laurie adds:
"Any new construction, any new development, I think they should implement this type of energy."

Kevin lives in Lowndes County and this installation is at Spring Creek Apartments on route 333 just south of Quitman, 2010 S Court Street, 229-263-4004. Kevin says:
"I can do this anywhere the sun shines."

So, California can do it. Brooks County can do it. Probably Lowndes County can do it: install solar hot water and electricity on public housing. Or on everybody's houses and business roofs, for that matter.

The cost of conventional energy is increasing by the day further proving the need for an alternative source of energy. With prices of photovoltaic cells going down, solar power advantages are really compelling.
