Videos: Beer, filters, roads, weather, and executive session @ LCC 2013-03-25

A beer license, and some filters for public works: that's all that's on the agenda for the unquestioning Lowndes County Commission. They did have two very brief reports on the weekend's weather and how they dealt with it. Then they went into executive session for real estate and litigation, which seems to have been the real purpose of this meeting, which otherwise lasted four minutes. They vote on the agenda items Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

      Chairman recommended Commissioners look at the draft minutes when they got a chance. County Manager said County Attorney had provided "a minor edit" for the regular meeting minutes. No other questions or changes.

5. For Consideration - Beer License — Race Way — 1177 Lakes Blvd., Lake Park

   Change of ownership; license for consumption of beer off-premises; no questions.

6. Bid — Filters for Public Works

   Kerry Sanz[sp?] is the new purchasing agent for Lowndes County. Bid is for oil, air, and fuel filters for shop maintenance on all vehicles and equipments. Two bids, one incomplete. Only complete bid was from NAPA Auto Parts; Mr. Folsom was there to answer questions, but there were no questions.

7. Reports-County Manager
   • Robin English, Director of Public Works

     She said they'd closed about five roads Sunday for water over the road, but the water had receded, and they'd be working late today.

   • Ashley Tye, Emergency Management Director

     Flood warning in effect for the Withlacoochee at 14.5 feet; expected to crest today; he doesn't expect any ill effects. The county's gauge on the WIthlacoochee River is at Skipper Bridge Road, and it currently shows

     Latest observed value: 14.65 ft at 9:30 AM EDT 25-Mar-2013. Flood Stage is 13 ft

     

     It shows 14.7 feet predicted high. Maybe that's what he said; the microphone wasn't on at the speaker's podium, so it's hard to tell.

   • Joe Pritchard, County Manager

     He asked for an executive session for "attorney-client communication related to purchase of real estate and potential litigation". The voted unanimously to do that.

8. Citizens Wishing to be Heard Please State Name And Address

   That's only in the Regular Session, which is tomorrow at 5:30 PM.
